Nestled in the heart of Big Sur, the River Inn is one of those rare wedding venues that feels both timeless and deeply personal. The charm of this historic property, surrounded by redwoods and the soothing sound of the river, creates a setting that is unlike anywhere else on the California coast. We recently had the privilege of capturing a wedding here, beginning with the bride preparing in her suite. The convenience of the River Inn as a large hotel made it easy to move between the bride and groom’s rooms, allowing us to document every quiet glance and heartfelt moment. The ceremony unfolded outdoors with the river cascading in the background and birdsong in the air—an unforgettable soundtrack to vows of love. The celebration continued with cocktails inside while the staff prepared the deck for dinner and dancing.
